How Much Does a Phone System Cost?

Working From Home

Working From Home – This video covers the most common WFH (Working from home) solutions for small businesses and organisations.

The second lockdown’s just been announced.

We’re all dealing with that.

I just want to cover something that we’ve been involved a lot in in the recent months with the lockdowns. Something we’ve been really busy with is upgrading people so they can work from home with regards to telecoms and IT. So I just thought it’d be worth having a short discussion to talk about how this is done.

It is really, really quite easy, and very affordable, often cheaper than what you’ve had before and gives you much more agility for you and your staff, and better ways of communicating and sharing documents and collaborating.

Hosted VoIP Remote Working

So just covering telecoms, really, to start with….. We can give you a VoIP phone, and you can plug it in at home, or you could plug it in your desk or in Timbuktu, and we can divert your existing phone number to it. And you can call out on it, sending your usual office number. So it looks like you have upgraded your phones when in fact you haven’t, all you’re doing is diverting your existing number.

And also, instead of using a desk phone, you could use a mobile app. So you could work on the go, again, using an app on the phone. You can send out your old office number, have all your calls received on your existing office numbers, and work wherever you are in the world. And if you don’t want to do that, you can just use your laptop.

Right now I’m talking into my laptop. But when someone phones me at home, it will just ring my cell phone or my laptop, and I speak into it and I can transfer calls to other contacts and do all the normal stuff. So all of that can be done really quite easily, without any disruption. You don’t have to upgrade your phone system. If you want to upgrade your old phone system, them then even better, because then you really do start to save money on ISDN rentals, phone system maintenance, call charges, the list goes on. So I’d really recommend you think about doing that if you are struggling with working at home and your staff are struggling with working at home.

Work with Documents and Email at Home on Any Device

What we can also do is we can set up Microsoft Office 365, or Microsoft 365 as it’s now known, so you can access and retrieve and store your documents, again, from any device, whether you’re on your smartphone, whether you’re on your laptop, whether you’re on your PC, in the office. Wherever you are in the world, you can securely deal with all of your documents. And you can also collaborate using Microsoft Teams. So a lot of our customers use Teams. They can talk to each other, have instant chat amongst their groups. So they’re all communicating live, sharing information, helping customers, being more efficient.

We can also move your emails and all of your folders out to Microsoft Cloud and SharePoint. And it’s all really, really quite straightforward. A lot of customers we’ve seen recently has still got servers in the office, they’re storing and retrieving files from their rear office PCs and using remote desktop and VPNs to log into servers. Most of the time, it’s just not necessary. So really, that’s something that we’ve been doing a lot of.

Home Working, Wi-fi, Cabling and Internet

The other thing we’ve been doing a lot of is sorting out people’s home broadband and cabling and Wi-Fi, which comes as no surprise, has been a real bugbear for people. So we can do that as well. And we can probably do a much better job than you will get by phoning your phone supplier, who would just dispatch a BT Openreach engineer. And he’d probably just shake his head basically and go away. So he may not, but we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.

So remote working solutions work from anywhere, you can really take advantage of the technology, and work through lockdown as if you were in the office from any device in any location. It’s affordable, secure, it’s easy to do. There’s very, very little, or zero disruption.

So please get in touch with us if you are struggling.
